> We think the most important thing is our logic.why we should preserve them?
We think it is significant for the people in Tangshan to remember this site history.
We think if we'll preserve them, it will be remained the complex structure and the historical value which we regard as the memory of this site.
And we have two ideas to solve this question. The difference between the followings is whether it is considered about this site's identities.
*A. A master plan which can be applied to anywhere (not only in this site).
If we adopt a plan like above, then our plan will be based on the followings, which is the reasons we define why we should preserve or renovate.
Preserve - buildings that have the historical or symbolical value in this site.
(for example 3-3,6-4-c. Because they have historical meanings.)
Renovate - buildings which we think those can reuse the space and the frame.
and those can preserve the unique view in this site.
(for example 5-3,6-2. Because they are have the potential to replace the other program. )
*B. The another way to develop master plan which is based on the complex structure of this site.
We focus on this site's structures themselves. (inclination, complex streets and so on...)
so it isn't focused on buildings themselves.
>What we want them to be to stimulate the revitalization of surroundings and Tangshan city?
We can answer this question according to two heads, function and space idea.
About Function：
We don't have definite function yet.
But we have some thought to decide functions.
Followings are thought about function(we think the function should be like this...)：
1.Addinng to educated classes
2.Existence for local citizens
3.Following Tangshan's city planning
These thoughts depend on our impression of Tangshan that people earn low wages and there is few educated classes.
If we adopt our idea "life long education", we can propose some specific functions.
For example,
Library：For accumulation of history
Media center：For accumulation of information
Education：school／Culture school
Residence：Based on Tangshan's city planning
These functions will promote Tangshan's development.
Because producing educated classes may be needed to develop of the city.
About Space Idea
:Our concept is preserving complex structure which is formed by accumulation of history.
This attitude is different from government's attitude.
Tangshan's city structure is standardized by city planning.
(by strong south-north axis and standardized arrangement of buildings caused by earthquake and standardized buildings itself and so on..)
Our purpose is showing this difference.
We hope Tangshan to develop with not-standardized way.
>I think in your proposal, there are 3 points which caught my interest. 1- time lag development. 2- the complex street structure. 3- the function- lifelong education. Do you have any thoughts that how to realize them through architectual way? I'm eager to hear that:)
